Misinformation is everywhere. Anywhere you look or listen, there is someone trying to tell you something, sell you something or get you to yell something to others. Whether a truth, a half-truth or an outright lie, it is often hard to figure out if what you are hearing is worth listening to or even repeating. Part of the problem is that in our information age, there are so many different venues for information that you can get hit with a message virtually anywhere, at any time. With so much information and chatter swirling around, figuring out who you can trust and where you should turn to gets harder and harder every day. The Lionheart Group aims to clear up the confusion, and help the truth to be known in the online marketplace. You may wonder why there is so much misinformation out there. In some cases, people spread rumors, just for the pleasure of seeing how many people will “buy into” their story. Mischief making in its newest iteration, these misinformation campaigns have taken aim at everything from whether deodorant causes cancer to what some new political campaign might do to improve our way of life. The perpetrators of these lies and half truths are counting on the fact that, with so many sources of information out there, you just don’t have the time or energy to not believe what they are saying. The Lionheart Group takes aim at these mischief makers, and exposes them for what they are. With so much worry all around, people are especially vulnerable to bad information. People are looking for a way to feel safe, and there are unscrupulous individuals and organizations that are preying off of that vulnerability. Scams that aim to defraud people of their time, their money and even worse, their personal information are all over the place. Whether it is a work from home scam that has you work for mere peanuts (if that), or investments that claim to protect your money from the economic downturn, the Lionheart Group scam alert blog helps people to learn what is really going on. Not all misinformation is harmless though. Some of these misinformation campaigns have an actual malicious agenda to them. Some may be started by fear mongers, hoping to instill enough unrest and nervousness to derail someone else’s goals. Others may be intent upon eliciting a response from you which will allow them to gain access to personal information, which they can then use to their own benefit. Some may be as straightforward as just looking to scam you. The Lionheart Group recognizes them all for what they are, and is dedicated to shining the light of truth on all of them. Many of the scams that have been uncovered by the Lionheart Group have been used to take advantage of people just like you. Scammers have found ways to prey on people’s fears about the uncertainty of our times in order to get access to virtually any information that they desire. They cloud up the truth and distort reality while asserting falsehoods about financial information, politics, emotions and even technology. So how does this misinformation get to you? Through the news, the radio, your email and even the social media that you participate in. Virtually anything that you read, watch or hear can be full of lies and misinformation. Causes and petitions that champion the righting of a wrong that actually doesn’t even exist are popping up all over Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites all of the time. The Lionheart Group is dedicated to clearing up the misconceptions and helping you to find out what is really going on in the world of information.
